Theme :
The theme is about war and romance. War because in this story was ongoing war between two countries. Romance because many scene that involve relationship between British woman and American men.
Plot :
This story begins with the arrival of an American man named Frederic. He is a volunteer from the U.S. in order to assist the war. Then one day he met a British woman named Catherine. She was a volunteer nurse who helped the victims who were injured by war. It turned out that Fred put his heart on Cath and their love story began to spring up in the hospital. One day Fred was sent to the battlefield terrain is hilly. But he was unlucky and hit a bomb attack severely injured his leg. Then Fred was rushed to hospital, but he refused. Cath to find out it was immediately panicked and rushed to the spot Fred treated. There are two of them start making out. Day after day they went through with great excitement. Until one day there was an explosion that hit the hospital. Panicked residents fled to safety, including Cath and Fred. But unfortunately Italian soldiers captured Fred's friends who were offended by his talk. Until finally Fred and his friends were captured by Italian soldiers. But unfortunately his friend Fred executed and lucky to be executed but Fred can escape. He was running away and seeking Cath to whom he fled with. Arriving at the hospital looking for Cath Fred and they went together up the boat. Despite the cold rain and hot sun they still go on. Sudden passing patrol car, and they hide, hide their profits on time. After several days of their journey they arrived in the country of Swiss. There they were disguised as a tourist and live as husband and wife. Swiss they started early in life, but they are still haunted by the pursuit of Italian soldiers who continued to chase Fred because Fred is considered a fugitive. A few months later became pregnant and eventually gave birth to Cath. But it all does not go smoothly, because Cath bleed before giving birth and the baby too hard to get out. And the doctor had done their best to save the Cath and prospective baby, but fate would. And this is the moment of the most exciting and sad, because His son Fred died and Cath also died of bleeding after delivery. Fred eventually left the hospital with a feeling of disappointment and sadness.

· In the hospital : In the first time when Fred and Cath meet, this is place to tend injured the patients
· In the Hills : When the war had been begun
· In the Swiss : This is hiding place Cath and Fred from Italian soldier. And place they do many activities like another people.
Situation :
· Very frightening : When the war had been begun and when Cath was giving birth
· Romance : When Cath and Fred say Love in the Hospital in the first time
· Sad : When Cath and his baby was died
Massage :
The massage that I can get from this story is about struggle a volunteer that strive that help the others who need.
Characterization :
· Frederic Henry : Is an American men, he is handsome and a volunteer from America. Hi loves Cath very much. And he say Love in the first time when in the hospital where Cath work.
· Miss Catherine Brakley : She is nurse from England. She is beautiful and kind heard. She has a beautiful heard because she help the others who need her help without payment. And she love Frederic very much.
Unsure Extrinsic :
In this unsure extrinsic I will give some criticism to this movie. Why I criticism? Because this movie too nudity, many scenes that I think isn’t good to watch.
· I think in this movie tittle “A Farewell to Arms” is not shows how they war, even who the enemies we don’t know. And how can become a war this movies not explain in clearly. There are many bombs falling, it is still not clear origins.
· In this movie too much the hot scenes. I feel disturb because inevitably we have to look at and it can disrupt the flow of viewers.
About the culture :
This culture is different with my culture so, it makes me disturb with some scenes in this movie.
